I suppose it depends on who thinks what is a cause and what is being self-indulgent.

Hitler was self-indulgent and had a cause.

So it must be bad...

But then again I wouldn't be living in the USA right now, because a bunch of angry, bitter, self-indulgent Puritans wouldn't have had the right/guts to leave the church. The church was the ONLY way back then, and people thought it was absolutely disgusting that these people were angry at their church.

See what I mean? It gets so complicated...
