I like what I see here. I love the discussion.

To me, the difficulty is in that we're raised, not to be good people, but rather to be individuals who fit into a society. If we deviate from the norms, we are pigeone-holed as strange, bizarre, odd, queer, and any othe number of titles.

Having to fit outside the box is so hard. How many of us just ball up and start crying when on a movie, the daughter is standing, broken, in tears in front of her parents saying "All I ever wanted was to be your little girl." I can't get by them. That's what I wanted, but not what my parents were looking for. I'm certain the same holds true for men.

Wouldn't it be nice if parents could know that all their children want is to be daughters or sons. Please don't make us into doctors, nurses, military men or women, lawyers, or auto mechanics. We will figure out how to do that on our own. Teach us what we need to know, but do not mold us into who you think we should be. Teach us how to speak, how to respect others, but please don't tell us who to like or not.

Please mom and dad, help us to grow, but don't control the direction of our life. Plants individually move toward the sunlight, and we must individually find our way. Force our way, and we grow injured and bruised.

I guess this post mutated a bit from when I started it, but it still has some ideas that I wanted to share.
