Lessons of the snow.

Posted by deirdrehbrt on December 6, 2003, at 22:03:55

Far away in the northeastern kingdom, the snow has been teaching the crazy woman. It has taught her that if she decides to venture out into the harsh winter winds, without thought of chill, snow, cars, or other dangers that may beset her, that she just might be a bit manic.
If late in the day, in the storm, while venturing out, walking because she cannot drive, to certain stores, not even suspecting that they might not be open, because of the storm, ignoring the many other closed establishments, and finally being puzzled that these stores are closed, She might just be a bit manic.
If her plans were to pick up a golf bag for her dad, skates for herself, a few items at a music store, and god knows what else, and then to walk home, in this terrible storm, with all of these things, all at the same time, She might be just a bit manic.
Well surprise! She now realilzes that She is indeed fully ensconced in a bout of hypomania! On the plus side, it's great! It feels wonderfull! On the down side though, she realizes that it can be an expensive trip. It's time to guard the purse. Around Christmas time, it can be really rough. I remember one year, perhaps in the 1980's. Our family picks names for Christmas. I got my Mother's name. The gift limit was $20.00 or so. I got her a hand-knit Irish Cardigan that cost me about 10 times the limit. (of course, I wasn't mentally ill back then). Another time, I bought her a pendant that cost about $1500.00. I think that was a combination of mania and trying to buy her affection.
Anyway, I recognize it now, and I'm happy that I have friends who let me know that something's up. I wonder..... do my alters get manic too? I'll have to ask around.
Dee.
