I'm sorry to hear that - I would love it if you would take my place at my family gathering! The food is wonderful, and it's really not *that* bad, and they would be ultra-nice to you! Not that they're mean to me or anything, but it's just such a pain in the a** to have to go. I only do it for my grandmothers...
I do like the idea of volunteering on Thanksgiving. Or going to a movie. Or just sleeping in and renting some flicks and staying home and trying to make the most of it. I know, easier said than done when you're alone. I'm sorry...
But the offer to replace me at my family gathering still stands...
