I'm afraid this is too much for my weary brain to deal with. :-) I hate to say it, but I'm fairly sensitive. I don't want to get into a position where I might get hurt, which is why I asked for some clarification here.
I've been reading some posts about posters who start posting under new names and can potentially manipulate people, etc, and that really concerns me. I know all of this is fairly anonymous, but you *can* develop some type of affection for others on a message board, and I didn't want to get hurt by anything a poster said/offered/claimed/etc. That's why I asked for a little clarification on this type of thing. Not totally the same as a poster under another name, but I saw *any* request for personal stories as a similar possible hazard, if that makes any sense.
I appreciate all of your responses. I guess I think it's important to warn others about potential harm, and that type of use of this board shouldn't be blocked or censored.
But then, whatever happened on that board is something I've never been a part of, never seen, and can't reliably estimate the severity of any harm that was inflicted or whether it would have hurt me.
I'll just stay on these boards, then. With one exception at the very beginning of my posting history, everyone has been very supportive of me and their comments have been quite helpful. And I hope mine have helped some others as well.
I wish everyone well. Now I'm going home to feed my dog. :-)
