The Northeast, sweltering heat, and pets

Posted by Susan J on August 15, 2003, at 9:23:45

OK,

This has nothing to do with emotional health, or maybe it has a lot to do with mine.

My sympathies go out to those without power who are suffering this horrible heat. The heat index in Baltimore (near me) was 97 yesterday, and I'm sure New York was worse.

I'm sure everyone here is taking special care of their pets during these hot days, but could you do me a favor and look out for the neighbors' pets as well, or strays? Maybe stick some fresh bowls of water out on the sidewalk or something?

I literally FREAK OUT when I think of pets suffering through the incompetence, apathy, or even plain cruelty of humans.

Thank you. Just knowing somebody might read this is making me feel tons better. :-)
