How to stave off boredom?

Posted by yesac on June 27, 2003, at 14:02:02

I'm not sure if the word is really "stave", I don't think I've ever actually written it before.

But. You guys. What is my problem? Why am I so bored all the time? I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong with me... Oh wait! I already know that there are many things wrong with me.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? I've gotten back into crocheting which allows me to be able to handle watching tv sometimes. Reading is a problem - don't seem to have the focus and attention span to read for much more than 20 minutes or so, hence it seems to take me weeks to get through a single book, if I ever even get through it. This is really disturbing to me as I used to be an avid reader and there are many books that I think I would like to read. I ordered Harry Potter the other day, maybe that will save me. I just don't enjoy most activities much. The more I think about it, I've been so bored for years really. But I just seem to have a lot more time now (not being in school, etc). I almost would say that I dread the weekends. I am going home next week for a week, so hopefully it will alleviate some of my boredom for a short time, to be with my family and beloved kitty! Whereas here, I am more or less all alone. Jeez, it really sucks. It brings me down a lot to be so bored, but I don't know what to do.
