Last time I noticed, the geeks were running the world. At least the financial and technological sides of it. Most of them disdain traditional politics, so their politics tends to be differently expressed, but you can bet their influence is creeping steadily into that arena, too.
I've heard it said that geeks are nerds with good jobs and money. Maybe that's the difference. Either way, I wouldn't consider it a *bad* thing. :-)
