Moebius twist: dangerous if you're on Cipralex®... » dreamerz

... http://bnf.vhn.net/bnf/documents/bnf.868.html#BNFID_98202 (escitalopram — the US name is Lexapro®). The Moebius twist in your drink will transform all the S-citalopram in your antidepressant into inactive R-citalopram, which has no effect on serotonin reuptake, or anything else, and therefore no antidepressant action.

Fortunately, those clever researchers at Lundbeck, using the latest igNobel Prize-winning techniques of molecular racemization, have come up with a brilliant solution to your problem.

Ask your doctor to prescribe new Cipramil® — http://bnf.vhn.net/bnf/documents/bnf.867.html#BNFID_33059 (racemic citalopram — the US name is Celexa®). It contains the same amount of S-citalopram as Cipralex®, together with all the same excipients; but it also contains the additional, pharmacologically inert pro-drug R-citalopram, at precisely the same concentration as S-citalopram. The Moebius twist in your drink still converts all the S-citalopram into inactive R-citalopram, but it also transforms all the R-citalopram that was originally present into active S-citalopram — exactly the right amount to replace the original S-citalopram which was destroyed; so Cipramil® is equally effective whether you take it with or without a Moebius twist.

And, for those agoraphobic days when you've run out of gin and can't face going out for a new bottle, Cipramil® oral drops contain a second extra excipient: ethyl alcohol (9% by volume). Mix with tonic water, orange juice or apple juice before taking (and a twist of Moebius, of course), ice optional.
