In this link, they also talk about 'Borderline Personality Disorder'...and go on to describe people with these as being "headaches" to all around them.(And just painted these folks in a very negative light.) That's just plain nasty...and I don't think very fair or completely accurate.

From my research, many people with BPD are often people who have been misdiagnosed by an *incompetent* doctor, who have their own set of prejudices and bias.

For example..let's say a person who has major anxiety is treated by a doctor who is completely benzophobic, and tow's the current mantra that the "SRI'S" have some magical power to erase most anxiety. (I *had* a psychiatrist like this...who also didn't believe in any type of polypharmacy..etc.) After years of these meds *not* working..the one shrink labels them BPD..or 'difficult'.

Also...what about a bipolar person, who responds negatively to all antidepressants, is not correctly DX'd by their pdoc, and with the dysphoric mania and depression, end up with a "BPD" DX.

I know...any *good* pdoc wouldn't do this...but I think it happens more often then we think. I think many of us on here are not getting the full-out beneficial treatment of a good pdoc who is willing to chart the worlds of diverse, yet scientific and sound (as possible), medication prescribing. Unless there is a *deathly* risk, I don't think a good psychiatrist (should or does) hold back on prescribing *any* of the available treatments for prescription. It also means even going into 'uncharted' worlds, and using some less-conventional (but, guided by education) treatments.

Anyhow..just IMHO...
