I have a sofa bed. I actually have two sofas exactly the same, but one converts to the bed and the other doesn't.
There is no difference between the two in sitting comfort. The bed is much more comfortable than the floor (which I often hit when using an air mattress). Only one bar that is a little uncomfortable, but I fixed that with a little foam and some ingenuity! In fact, when I went through a period of not being able to sleep I slept better on the sofa bed than on my normal bed!
I got these couches from my parents, and they have been sat on, slept on (both human and animal varieties), and spilt on for the past 10 years. They also moved over 200kms with me, and the moving men had the lovely job of carry them up 3 flights of stairs.
Yes, the bed is mega heavy. That's why there are movers! I love my couches, and they still look great. A great investment on behalf of my folks!
