You go, jyl. Make your own christmas just the way you want it. Your kids will have better memories if you're enjoying yourself.
Can I go off on my own slightly related rant for a sec? I'm 40 years old, live 2000 miles from where I grew up, and it annoys me to no end when people ask if I'm going "home" for Christmas. I've started saying sweetly, "my home is here", cuz it is.
