I dont know if you are expecting any replies- understandable if you were just letting off steam about a lot of painful stuff.
I suppose I am a woolly white liberal. I know all the clever theories about why it happens, but I think one of the most unacceptable things about human nature is the treatment of people who are different- whether by race, colour, disability, religion or sex. Research showed discrimination even against someone with a small facial scar. It seems very fundamental, and after all chickens will attack an injured or ill member of their group. So it doesnt need a lot of brains to be a bigot..
Mutual respect would be a wonderful thing- including from parents to their kids. Never likely to happen universally- I guess we just have to try and do it ourselves, at least. Not at all easy (thinking of the drunk and very smelly man I was squashed up against in a busy commuter train this week..)
