Very, very much so! Sometimes when we're badly depressed, we aren't so careful about our personal hygiene. No pet says "whew! Go brush your teeth." They could care less. I have three cats & one in particular will snuggle up to me & just gaze into my eyes for so long looking blissful. He feels so calming. They also act very silly at times, cracking me up.

It's a well-known fact, put to use, that old people are healthier & live longer lives if they have a pet to love & look after.
