It really, really does. I can remember when, as a child, our cat, Smokey, didn't come home and my parents told me she had died. I was so depressed and cried, with absolutely NO sympathy from my parents. I decided then that I would not have a pet again because I couldn't handle the sorrow. Alas, I now have two cats, who are getting up in their years. I fear what will happen to me when their time comes. I am truly scared. At least they are still healthy.
