However, as infected MS servers, under the influance of Code Red, go out an probe for other servers, this will create a DoS (denial of service). CR probes every IP, not just MS servers. This is its intent, to cause DoS.
Many devices allow web management, CR probes on port 80, any has wrecked havoc on these. Cisco DSL routers, 67X series were really hit.

Far too many servers are not maintained at all. A fix for this came out days before CR hit. We would not be having round 2 (or even round 1) if people would mantain their servers.
