Im my State its an actual crime to fail to pay wages. It doesn't sound like Calif. goes this far, but the State Labor Dept. should be able to point you in the right direction. Most employers hate to deal with state agencies over their employment practices. Frankly, all of this from the very beginning has sounded to me like an employer in some financial distress who is engaged in stall tactics and is probably counting on you not being real assertive. (or thinks you can hurt them in some other way) You can try to find an attorney, but I think you might be better off if there is some mechanism for you to get the State to collect this for you. Good luck ksvt

Now, while I'm feeling stronger because of it, I want to be working on my future, not quibbling with my past. And they keep saying things like, "we have to talk to you to clear the air", despite my response that there's no air to clear, and they can do what they like in their anaerobic environment. (I've been a bit nicer than that, but not much. Mostly, I don't know that they'd understand such long words!) I want this to end, and it would be nice if it ended with a check for me.
