Paxil Depression Increase

Posted by teflon on August 21, 2000, at 10:35:27

Hey there - I've been battling minor depression for a few months with limited success using Paxil. I started out on a 10MG dose, and worked up to the 20MG dose as reccomended by my family physician. After stepping up to the higher dose, I immediately became depressed/panic to the point of what felt like psychic pain - everything seemed hopeless and pointless (even "normal" activities like getting out of bed). All I could do was sleep to alleviate it. I was unable to get out of bed to even call in sick to work! This lasted about a week before I finally gave up and stopped taking the Paxil altogether. I've resumed the Paxil 10MG doses, with limited success, but I still have this feeling that I could be doing better. I also seem to have Paxil "spikes" that leave me feeling energetic and positive the first few hours after taking it, then "back to normal" afterwards. Has anyone else experienced this with Paxil, and what did you do to correct the imbalance. As far as side effects on the 10MG dose, I haven't really noticed too much, short of the feeling of inconsistent (i.e. coming and going) of the effects of Paxil, Occasional "jitter" when mixing caffine too near a paxil does, and a slight loss of interest in sex.
Thanks in advance!

Greg
