when I am "horrible", my SO is thankful when I don't "take it all out on him"... And I don't really mean temper- I mean emotion. He realizes that he can't "empathize", but still feels bad that he can't "solve" the problem for me.

Any way that I try not to "emasculate" him is okay in his book. (He feels this way when there's no way he can make the problem go away- as do most men. I can only imagine how this illness can really incapacitate a man who was raised to not feel- "just fix". At least I was raised to think I was incapable of doing anything at all. For me, I can be proud of myself for getting out of bed and not putting my shirt on backwards, apparently...)
