I would not want to marry a close friend because I might miss out on the friendship part of the relationship which sometimes happens in marriage. I also wouldn't want to date someone unstable because I have issues of my own and between the both of us, our issues might take precedence over the value of the marriage and I would like the marriage to come first. I am not saying that would happen, only that I wouldn't want to risk our mutual issues becoming front and center. Just because someone is unstable it doesn't speak to their character or ability to be a good friend and loving marriage partner.
