Snow dies the air and makes the cold crisp to me as when I lived in Connecticut better than the damp cold of the Carolinas. Phillipa at least if it's not a wet heavy snow. I used to love to shovel snow in the dark cold face and sweaty body. Felt good. But the back I now have couldn't handle it.
