Getting back in to therapy

Posted by cubic_me on June 22, 2006, at 17:35:47

Hello to anyone who remembers me. I used to come on here fairly regularly when I was in therapy 2-3 years ago, then when I went in to group therapy instead my posting kind of tailed off. Sorry if this post rambles a little.

Since leaving group (it wasn't for me) I've thought about going back to individual therapy, so I went back to my old T for a session last October, who said she thought I needed longer term therapy than she could offer (it's at college and normally they only offer 6 sessions, but have a few longer term people - I went for 2 years), she was also retiring this May, so no chance of seeing her again now :(

On my very tight student budget I can't afford private therapy so old T suggested a place that is for people on low incomes who give a small donation - I'm in the UK by the way. I went for an assessment with them late last year but I'm still on the waiting list to start therapy. It's been 7 months now and I'm fed up with waiting. I've had 2 episodes of deep depression and had to go back on antidepressants despite me thinking therapy is a better option for me than medication, I just needed some hope at the time.

How do you sit it out for that long?
