When he asked if you were in a bad mood, did you say "yes"? I hope so. I'm sure he wants you to be honest about how you are feeling and not put on the happy mask for him.

Today I was in a black mood all day. When my therapist called I told him that and I dumped out a whole list of things I was p*ssed off about. After 15 minutes of this, I stopped and apologized for being b*tchy. He said, "haven't you heard? B*tchy is in this year." And then we talked about making room for pain and bad moods and not being upset with myself for being upset.

I don't think you need to apologize, though I totally understand the urge.
