Drs make me feel depressed

Posted by cubic_me on April 15, 2005, at 10:00:34

I just went to the GP for a prescription (I can't seem to get an appt with pdoc), I hadn't met this particular GP before, and although her fashion sense was a little bit odd, she seems nice and kind. Unlike any of the others I've seen in the past year she asked loads of questions (all the usual, and very appropriate, I just wasn't expecting them).

Compared to how I have been, I didn't feel particularly depressed before I went in, but I came out feeling awful, similar to how I feel after group therapy, but worse. I hope I don't do that to people when I'm a doctor! OK, so I probably feel this way because she brough up issues I don't really want to think or talk about, and that's probably good for me, but I still don't like it.

Also, does anyone else get stupidly nervous when they are in the doctor's waiting room? I get nervous even if I'm just going for some creme for a rash or something, and I'm not an anxious person normally.
