Coachs versus Therapists - Experiences, Anyone?

Posted by Lonely on February 23, 2005, at 1:20:53

Has anyone used a coach to help them move more towards their goals?

I'm not talking so much about a personal coach although I'm curious about that too.

Right now the "in" thing in the business world is to have a corporate/business coach (some would say "executive coach" but I'm not near that level!) and I talked to one recently. Just in the one session I realized more fully how much several emotional issues are getting in the way of where I want to go. Therapists just don't do anything for me in that area - I feel that they're too accusatory and don't have enough business knowledge. I'm afraid to tell the coach that I'm seeing a therapist although I know the therapist will approve of the coach. Coaching is really more than I can afford so am trying to come up with some ways of paying for it. I must say it was very *intense*. I think it's what I need for a while at least.

I'd like to hear others' experiences with coaching and how they compare it to therapy.
