I can see that my recovery and healing process in therapy and with medication has to have a spiritual aspect too for it to be effective for me. Just as people draw strength from their faith and beliefs in a church, those of us without a specific "named" faith have had to find our own path to discover that higher power. For me, it means practicing meditation so that I tap into that energy of a higher power and use it to strengthen myself. Then I, in turn, can give my power and energy to those who need it more than I.
It's something that my therapist has encouraged me to explore in dealing with my anxiety and problems with alcoholism.
