My therapy dream

Posted by gardenergirl on July 12, 2004, at 14:33:00

Okay folks. The night of the session when my T called me a "wreck", I had this dream. Please tell me what you think.

I was waiting in a waiting room of an office (not my T's office or one that I can recognize awake.) Apparently, we were there for family therapy, but the T was really late (over 30 minutes). Also, my family was not there (mother and brother, who apparently I had been expecting for family therapy.) When the T, a woman (mine is a man), shows up, she told me we would meet for half an hour and walked me to another room. I told her that the family was not there, and besides, I said, I have an appt. with you at 7:00 pm (which was right after the family therapy session) for individual therapy. Apparently she was covering for my T (I have no idea why he was not there). She did not know anything about this, did not have it in her book, and only had the half hour available. I got really mad and told her to just forget it, especially since my family wasn't there.

So then I am back in the waiting room, telling my husband about this. Now we are apparently waiting for couples' therapy (love how dreams just shift and twist). A different woman T comes out and starts talking to us right there in the waiting room. And she starts right in on giving us her opinion and interpretations on what is wrong with our marriage. I lost it then and said how dare you! Don't you think you should ask us even a few questions first? And how about some privacy? So she walks us to yet another room. While walking there, I passed a psychologist with whom I did my second year practicum. He said hello warmly, and passed by. And then I think I woke up.

Hmmmm. Am I mad at my T? Or what?

Okay you dream interpreters...let me have it.

Thanks,
gg
