Hi, I got TM instruction back in the 80s, when the full price was $200 or so, but I got the training for free from a coworker. What I learned wasn't any unique technique-- it was pretty much just like any basic meditation technique you could learn from a book, a free class, or the internet. So.. I'd just be really cautious about paying $2000 for it. The unique feature is the mantra, but I personally don't believe there's any special magic in it. There are some TM debunking websites that list all the mantras. There are only 20 or so, and supposedly they pick your mantra based on your gender plus your birthdate or something simple. Sure enough, my mantra that I got from the teacher was the same as the one shown on the webpage.

When I meditate now I do insight meditation style, which is pretty much like TM without the mantra. It's a good practice, but I'm not about to toss out my medication.
