Actually, it's not 'prescribing physician' but 'psychiatric doctor'. As one could be receiving his/her prescriptions for psychiatric medications from their general practitioner (GP), but that wouldn't make the GP their pdoc.

Tho', when I told my pdoc that we referred to psychiatrists on the board as 'pdocs', he found it amusing, and followed with, "I thought a 'pdoc' was a urologist?" He has a goofy sense of humor at times. :-)
