Well, I am not into the whole Freudian approach to dreams, there is some research demonstrating some reasons by "dreaming the way we do". Quite often, it is your subconscious which uses random imagery to represent various things in your life. (Note this quite different from Freud, who has static images to mean one thing.) In other interpretations, the images are more connected to your own, personal images.
