I'm weaning off Effexor and it's hell. But it's better since trying the allergy pills as someone here had suggested. It's my 3rd week of downsizing the dosage. I'd seen on the Discovery channel how a new supplement called 'EmPower+' is helping many people with depression and that it even helps Bipolar people but it hasn't helped me yet. They're done scienific studies and it does seem to help many. Good for the ones that it does as that means they never have to take some of the hard core drugs out there that many doctors Rx like it's candy.
I was on Prozac first and I was always sleepy--my doctor then suggested Wellbutrin and it worked well on my depression but gave me horrific headaches. She then put me back on Prozac and I was on it until I read about Effexor being so much better. I have been on Effexor since 7/02 and have since suffered from excessive sweating,insomnia and when I inadvertently went off it for 5 days due to a doctor/pharmacy error--I was so sick, I had crying jags, I threw up, I had the runs, I had numb lips and shaky hands and the minute I had the Effexor back, all this went away. It was then I knew I was addicted and of course my doctor told me that no aniti-depressants are addictive and he ordered tests done to see what was wrong with me. Frustrating to say the least!
I'm weaning off slowly now, he's helping(still thinks it's no big deal)and will be back on Prozac once the Effexor is out of my system.
