David Burns' Feeling Good book and Verbal Judo

Posted by fuzzymind on December 14, 2002, at 5:44:05

Just read the first few paragraphs about Verbal Judo in the Felling Good book. Burns' claims that no matter how cruel or harsh or abusive an external comment, the source of the abusive feelings doesn't come from the outside, but from within. Anyone else buying this? WHen I was being preyed on by those Jewish and white kids in High School, it sure felt like it was coming from them. How do 'normal' Asians deal with this garbage? How was I supposed to learn. DI I miss something about learning about this in pre-school or kindergarten. WHy don't school start emphasizing self- esteem. Just angry I never learned any of this. An I am also angry others have and I am wondring how they were able to learn without studying a self help book
