Hi Lynn,

You're not selfish, you're ill. Let go that level of suffering, the one where we treat ourselves, most often, as badly as we were once treated.

Your post screams to me, mood disorder. Doesn't matter if it just started. See Daniel Amen's book for a more detailed description of rage attacks and the brain. . .the closest way we have right now to dx them is mood disorder/seizure/electrical glitch, and I have no doubt you'd find something like Lamictal or Zyprexa helpful.

Zyprexa, BTW, is something you can pop when an attack is coming on. It would be interesting--and diagnostic of whether this is purely psychological, which it seldom ever is. Might you get a hold of a few and try it? (I can't recommend, personally, being on it all the time, because I put on fifty pounds--now an admitted side-effect, tho Eli Lilly has a recommendation that works for some to lessen that effect. . .had to give it up, which was hard, it gave me a life for the first time in my life. . (found even better meds, for me.)

Good luck!
Zo
