Well, it's a darn sight safer than booze. And think of the benefits!
Standardization - always knowing the strength and being sure of no bad chemicals added.
Taxation - it could be taxed like cigarettes and alcohol and *still* cost less than black-market
Rehab - the take from the taxes could pay for much needed rehab facilities
Take away the gateway - as it is, many people switch to harder drugs because a) they are breaking the law anyway and b) they stay in the system less time - making employment testing easier to pass.
Money saving - no more farm subsidies!
