EMSAM- Edema and mao-B saturation kinetics

Posted by idolamine on July 2, 2008, at 1:49:24

I've started emsam for RLS, as requip was making my hair fall out. I was surprised to find that my add was helped very much and I was much calmer and attentive. However, I am now (after 4 days) observing what may be the beginning of edema in my feet (swelling). I know that emsam is an irreversible inhibitor so the body must make new enzyme. My question is this: once the swelling becomes troublesome, what do you people think of cutting a patch to a much smaller size to achieve a steady state inhibition of mao-b without sufficient concentrations of selegiline which (presumably) are responsible for the edema when not covalently bonded to the B type isoform. Does anyone have any opinions/kinetics data? Thank you all very much. James
