neuro effects of low selenium, veganism

Posted by iforgotmypassword on May 14, 2008, at 14:38:43

apparently low selenium levels are observed in vegans:

----------

what could be the neuro consequences of this? larry hoover, a while ago, seemed to mention that there are relevant consequences.

i suffer from: avolition/amotivation/apathy, functional paralysis in thought and action, fatigue, severe dysexecutive issues, extrapyramidal stiffening, though slowing and freezing, feeling automatic.

maybe it could help something my symptom cluster seems to most match:
->>Atypical Depression<<
-non-schizophrenic >>Negative Symptoms<<
->>Dysexecutive Syndrome<< i.e. "disorder of executive functioning"
-dopaminergic dysfunction leading to: pseudoparkinsonian stiffness, halted mindset, general >>extrapyramidal<< effects, and episodes of nerve bursting >>akathisia<< and anger, out of character behaviour
-crawling nerve issues in hands, legs, upper back and face (assumed to be EPS related), oversensitivity to light and sound and other people, sometimes i either blow up or retreat
-broad >>Cognitive Difficulties<< affecting my memory, reasoning, whole functioning and personality

can i get my selenium checked somehow?

will supplementation possibly help me? what dose should i take? how soon would i notice a difference?

if anyone also knows of other nutrients low in vegans that i should know about, it would be really helpful too.

thanks!
