I've been on mood stabilizers for for probably 7 years. First Neurontin (which later turned on me and made me feel CRAZY) -- that dr prescribed it for 'labile mood' not bp. The next dr diagnosed me bp, which was confirmed by next pdoc. What changed? Well, I changed docs for one thing. My history of symptoms convinced him I guess, and my response to 2 SSRI's without mood stabilizers to which I had horrible reactions of mixed episodes (couldn't sleep, horribly anxious, terrible thoughts, etc.) My pregnancies seemed to bring on my bp symptoms to the extreme. Ever heard of that?
