God made us this way. There is nothing shameful about liking something pleasant. There could be something shameful about indulging in that to the exclusion of all else.

An old (conservative!) friend was dying of cancer, and after a procedure in which she was given a narcotic, I said 'Well, what you've had is like heroin', to which she (sensibly) said 'No wonder they like it'.
