Christianity is based on the promise of the coming of the Messiah, God's own Son who would come, live a sinless life, and then sacrifice His life by dieing on a cross so that man's relationship with God the Father could be restored. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (the Trinity) are considered all equally God, with different purposes. Jesus died on the cross, and rose to life again on the 3rd day just as He said he would. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. A Christian is a person who gives his life to Jesus and as a result his sins are forgiven. When a Christian dies, because of his faith in Jesus, he goes to heaven to live eternally with God in Paradise.
