My memory may not be accurate, but wasn't the novel "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" written by a severely depressed teenage girl? (there's three different authors listed by Amazon for this title and i don't remember which female author is correct).

Also "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath
And "Sounds from the Bell Jar: 10 Psychotic Authors"

Again, i may be faulty in my memories of these books. OR the conditions they write about may be more severe than just first level depression, i'm not sure... but they were all very important reading to me at the time. a bit of time ago...
