I read this book recently; it's about a child abused by his parents and by his mother's therapist and his extended family (with whom he goes to live). The therapist is ludicrous and has no sense of boundaries at all; indeed, he's got an omnipotence complex. Fortunately, he seems to have been a relic of the 1960s and 1970s. We would rarely, if ever, find a psychiatrist like that today.

The book was witty in spots; sad mostly. I am glad that I read it, but I wish that the author had done more analysis of the situation: mostly he tells the story and leaves it up to the reader to be horrified.
