l-theanine

I've been popping l-theanine (Suntheanine brand, not that it matters) like crazy the past couple days. good stuff.

I stocked up a while ago, when my online vitamin place was having a mega-sale. then I lost interest, for some reason...but (thankfully...) I kept the bottles.

mine are Suntheanine, sold under another company's label. 150mgs per capsule. It seems that the FDA has declared l-theanine safe up to 1200mgs/day.

I"m thinking+hoping that I'll be able to maintain an adequate response (calmer, somewhat brighter mood, etc.) w/ a dose more in line with some the research. It looks like the Suntheanine people have funded some small studies in psych conditions, ranging from helping ADD/ADHD kids on uppers simmer down and sleep (seems to help, btw) to helping long term Schizophrenia people on tranquilizers (reduces anxiety and "activation" @ 400gs, so I guess its a mild sedative?).

no major downsides, except its an amino acid, so should be taken on an empty stomach. my cursory research tells me that high(er) doses last longer than lower doses. probably not an issue for many people, but my core Orthomolecular supplements do better taken w/ food (b-vitamins, E, etc.), so I'm trying to see if I can go for 1 high(er) dose in the AM and make it last more or less all day. we shall see.
