I feel the magnesium has certainly helped me, but I also seem to have noticed when I take the multi, it affects my mood - not in a good way - feel mildly depressed, and definitely more anxious. I haven't tried it enough to know for sure, though.

I don't know which version you take, but I looking at the Rainbow Light Women's One, as an example.

Overall, it looks like an excellent multivitamin, if overpriced!

The things I see as possible issues are:

The B6 dose is 25mg (1250% RDA). Although B6 is generally thought to be helpful in psychiatry, some people have reported side effects such as insomnia. I wonder whether you would do better using a multivitamin with less B6. If you've ever had problems with B-50 or B-100 vitamin B complexes ie. very high doses, this could be the issue. Most other B vitamin cause no side effects except at very high doses.

Folic acid 800mcg - folic acid may be helpful in depression, and I doubt it's the cause of your problems, but 800mcg is too high for general supplementation. 200mcg is perfectly adequate for routine supplementation, 400mcg should be used in pregnancy. 800mcg can treat deficiency but isn't necessary long-term unless there is a medical reason for it. People using folic acid to try to 'augment' an antidepressant can take 800mcg/day for a few months and then reduce to 200-400mcg/day. Taking excessive doses of folic acid in the long-term have been linked to increased mortality from cancer, especially in older people.

Perhaps you should look for a multivit with less B6 and folic acid? Just a thought.
