Supplements: how many are too many?

Posted by Christ_empowered on July 14, 2014, at 4:17:52

OK. So I cobbled together a sort of DIY Orthomolecular protocol, based mostly on Dr.Hoffer's stuff from the early days "Mega-Vitamin Therapy," in the early 50s...back when Thorazine wasn't even yet available everywhere (ECT, insulin coma. Good times!)

So...I take : 12 grams c, 1000 IU E, 75,000 IU beta carotene, b-100 complex, 3+ grams niacinamide, 4+grams taurine, 5,000 IU d3, 200mcgs selenium, 30mgs OptiZinc, 1 gram green tea extract, 200-400 mgs grape seed extract.

That's the current line up, lol. I am physically healthy. My allergies seem so improved that I rarely require an antihistamine. I take 3 psych meds and function quite well. Even my hair looks awesome, and I had split ends as a 12 year old, lol.

I loved OM at first, because it seemed perfect...just high dose lots of stuff, combine it, and take it forever. Awesome! Now, I'm starting to wonder. I don't think its dangerous or anything, just...

...is there a huge difference between psych meds and massive doses of selected vitamins? I mean, at what point have I gone from supplementation to a clever form of drugging?

Ugh.
