I've been on rhodiola since last october. I recommended it to a friend who had just gotten out of the psych ward, and in a couple months she was good as new. She was on GNC brand, I think around 300mg. I've tried doses up to about 400mg a day, was at 180mg for a good stretch, but I find 100mg better. This is, like most plant medicines, one that works over a long period of time. The first time I ever tried it, it was an immediate profound fantastic antidepressant. That was actually in combination with prozac. Since then however I do not get that initial antidepressant effect anymore. It's more subtle, in the background. Overall, despite my own lack of remarkable response, I think it is one of the premier best plant medicines that has the potential to target many varied symptoms and diseases and syndromes simultaneously. It hasn't been a miracle to me, yet, but who knows 2 years down the road it's only been 5 months. It has been a miracle to many people. I have found it helpful enough that I continue to take it. I ran out once and went a few days without it and that was not pretty. That's when I realized just how much it was actually doing.
