Success Stories

Story #1.
A long distance friend asked of any herbs for general health. From a childhood brain injury he has stuttering and uncontrollable muscle twitching and anxiety. Off the top of my head I said Japanese Knotweed. It is not known by most people, but has some of the most exotic benefits on the planet earth for the human body....heart, brain, everything. Not because it is specific for any of his symptoms, except maybe it is calming to the nervous system, but that it has so many beneficial compounds and mechanisms it can fill a whole page just to list them. A month later he calls and says his anxiety is gone, he sleeps great, mood is good, twitching is much reduced, and a side benefit not expected....he can now remember where he left his car keys every day. Previously he had to hunt for them every single day of his life. I had also mentioned Lemon Balm, but he didn't have much to say about that one so it is the J*p Knotweed doing the work.

Story #2. I got a call a female friend was in the hospital....psychiatric ward. I am like , "HUH?" She was in deep dark depression. When she got out they tried her on lithium, lamictal, lexapro, and several other combos. None worked and all crippled her in terms of other side effects or making her even more depressed. The only thing she found somewhat helpful, but short lived, was exercise dancing, Zumba. That to me was a huge clue and immediately told me what the best choices for her were. Visiting her one day I said, "look, I'm not a doctor, but I'm going to write something on this piece of paper....look it up online and see what you think....it could be helpful...if Zumba makes you feel better, this sort of does the same thing." A month later I see her and she is in great shape. I didn't think much of it, except that I was glad she had somehow bounced back from her horrible place. Another month later, still great, I asked her what was different now compared to then? She said remember that word I wrote on the piece of paper? I had forgotten about that. The word was "Rhodiola". She takes one GNC 340mg cap per day and doing great. There is not even the tiniest hint that just 2 months ago she was given up for dead. She says there are no side effects for her, she can't even feel it, and she isn't even aware it is doing anything unless she stops it. Then she is rudely reminded what those dark days were all about.

Story #3.
A friend with a super painful tooth infection couldn't get to a dentist because it was the weekend. We knew an emergency room would give some opioid pain killers and antibiotics. And cost a ton of money which she didn't have. I said try this garlic pill. She complained of the stomach gas since her system wasn't accustomed to that large amount of garlic, and the odor was obvious. Non-odor garlic has benefits, but not the specific benefits for infection or pain. Those are in the odor. Within hours the pain and infection were gone. This was not the first time this has happened with her. Previous episodes she took antibiotics and advil, which would work after a few days but of course come with higher price tags in terms of risk and side effects and unintended consequences. The capsule I gave her was from Dr Zhang, called Allicin, primarily intended to fight Lyme, and I can say from personal experience it is potent stuff. Without a supplement like that, simply chewing a raw clove of garlic and swallowing it with something to dilute the taste works just as good. Cooking destroys the good stuff, so if garlic used for infectious purposes it should be thrown in the food toward the end of cooking. Throw it in earlier for the flavor, but late for the therapy.

Story #4. Still in the works....stay tuned. :-)
