I imagine the ratio would be important, yes, but you also have to think: they're using natural substances in super-high doses to change brain chemistry. They're basic mega-dosing stuff to get results you'd ordinarily need a pharmaceutical product for. I don't know about fish oil, but I have read here and there that with supplements, if you take a number of things at standard/reasonable doses, you don't need as much of any one ingredient to get the effect you're going for.

Example: I take 3 grams niacinamide for my anxiety. It acts on GABA, but I used to need a benzo for extra oomph. Since adding in 6 grams taurine, I'm relatively calm. Both of these supplements are within the normal/high-normal dosage range.

Maybe instead of focusing just on the fish oil, you could whip up a cocktail of inexpensive supplements at reasonable doses that, when combined, do what you're looking for. Just a thought.
