I have found an amazing product that is derived from the fiber of the konjac root plant in Asia. It is called Glucomannan. Like most natural remedies, you will probably not hear most doctors talking about it. As far as I know you can purchase it in capsule form or in the form of sharitaki noodles. What it does is form a gel-like mass in your colon after it is ingested. It gives you a feeling of satiety so you don't eat as much. What you do eat, after it is appropriately processed, eases through your colon, taking with it bad fats and toxins. Studies have shown it to lower blood sugar in people with Type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome, because it slows down the absorption of glucose in the bloodstream, so you don't get the same kind of sugar rush from a meal that you might get ordinarily. It has also been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
The best part is that I have finally begun to lose weight that I thought I could never get off, because I'm middle aged and going through perimenopause, not to mention fighting metabolic syndrome. I used to have bulimia. I now believe that I had such incredible hunger because my body was not processing food correctly, even though I always managed to pass the glucose tolerance tests.
I no longer have cravings, and when I do eat, I feel satisfied after a normal amount.
This was such an incredible discovery I just had to share. I have also read that Asian women have used the konjac root to stay trim for centuries.
There are many websites that talk about this very inexpensive product. One is:
