True Hope EMPower

Posted by ajuliagulia on June 15, 2006, at 17:40:23

I am writing this for the benefit of anyone who is considering True Hope's EMPower.

On January 20, of 2004, I posted my question of experiences to anyone who has tried Truehope.com's EMPower. This web site was my most useful resource in obtaining information about people who have used the supplement. This is an update to my first posting.

I wanted to try it but was both skeptical and optimistic, so I hesitated. I have a history of Bipolar (type 1) disorder that dates back to 1987 and can tell numerous stories of events leading to psychiatric hospital stays and walking naked on a public beach in broad day light. So, I wanted to be careful with trying anything unconventional.

On March 1st of 2004, I made the exciting discovery that I was pregnant with my first baby. I was taking a medication at the time that would cause birth defects, so I had to stop taking it immediately. To the best of my doctor's and my knowledge, there were no medications that were safe to take while pregnant.

So, I started taking EMPower. My Psychiatrist was convinced that it would result in a manic or depressive episode, so just to be on the safe side, I used the supplement under the supervision of a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who was trained in recognizing manic or depressive symptoms (in case I did not).

Ever since I started taking EMPower, I have had no problems with either mania or depression. My baby was born healthy and I had no baby blues or post-partum depression. If anything is likely to test the effectiveness of the EMPower supplement, I think that pregnancy and delivery would because of the increased liklihood for experiencing problems (even with someone with no history of mental illness).

As I write this, I am delighted to report that I am currently 11 weeks pregnant with my second baby and still there are no problems. I'll try to remember to post a follow up after this baby is born.

If you'd like to ask me a question, I'll do my best to respond to follow-ups on this thread.
