I'm starting on Selegiline tomorrow. From all I've read, it's a good choice for the kind of anhedonia and lack of focus I experience. Lamictal, 150 mg., has been very effective at reducing rumination, keeping me moving forward, but I'm looking to feel more than 65 percent (the figure I gave today at the psychiatrist's) -- up from 25 percent in February! I'd experienced a great 2-week lift with Lamictal in combination with Wellbutrin in the spring, but it didn't last and couldn't be recreated. It was my hunch -- and my psychiatrist was actually thinking the same way before I said Selegiline --that it might have a good effect because it targets dopamine (as does Wellbutrin).
For those who are wondering about the Selegiline patch, I called Bristol Meyers and talked to a medical officer. He said they are still awaiting FDA approval and could not speculate on when it might be final. From what I've read, 10 mg doses do not require dietary changes. My psychiatrist, who hasn't prescribed it in a long time, deferred to what I've read. Kind of scary but at the same time it validated that I've done a lot of homework, and he respected that.
